Back in AUG 2011, a new self-making short films competition titled MyPhone Shorties had been announced by local leading mobile service provider, Digi Telecommunications with an initiative to promote and celebrate the 1Malaysia spirit in conjunction with Malaysia Day. This contest require the participants to create a short Public Service Announcements (PSA) using the movie-making features on their smartphones by working around the theme of “Terima Kasih, Malaysia”.
In a bid to promote financial awareness among Malaysian youth, one of the local leading retail financial services group Prudential Assurance Malaysia has partnered with local indie band Busco to launch a music video contest – R U Ready. The contest encourages Malaysian aged 18 and above to upload either pictures or videos that best represents what is going on in their lives on the official Facebook page. Prudential intend to help educate the younger generation and guide them to a bright financial future through this contest.

Euro RSCG London have recently launched a global Dulux “Let’s colour” campaign with a TV execution that celebrates a series of community painting events called “Dulux Walls”. It’s a worldwide initiative to transform grey spaces with colourful paint. This 2 minute global film was shot over four weeks in Brazil, France, London and India. Every location is real and they remain transformed by a palette consisting of 120 different colours. The people in the film are not actors, they are real people who rolled up their sleeves to transform their community with colour. Wonder what so special Dulux can bring you? Production house, OneMoreProduction and director Patrick Jean recently have produced a two-minute film titled – Pixels: Retro Gamers, which sees New York City beseiged by waves of early 8-bit arcade characters, from Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space Invaders to even Tetris. It mix the aliens attack idea of Panic Attack with a love for the first wave of arcade video games.
