New Series Of Malaysian Banknotes

A new currency series of Malaysian banknotes, themed “Distinctively Malaysia”, had been introduced by Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on yesterday, 21st DEC 2011. The new fourth series banknotes will be launched in five denominations with a new look, which are RM1, RM5, RM10, RM100 and the re-introduction of RM20 note which last being issued in 1982. Bank Negara Malaysia had earlier this year launched a new series of coins, which will go into circulation in JAN 2012.

Pavilion REIT

Another Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) will be listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia on 7th DEC 2011. Pavilion REIT, which is expected to raise RM695.2 million from its initial public offering (IPO), has secured six cornerstone investors to take up 265 million units at an offer price of RM0.90 sen per unit or the institutional price, whichever is lower. The cornerstone investors are Permodalan Nasional Bhd, Employees Provident Fund Board, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan), Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Bhd, American International Assurance Bhd and HwangDBS Investment Management Bhd.

Maybankard Manchester United Credit Card

Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank), the country’s largest lender, targets 30,000 card members to sign up for its newly-launched Maybankard Manchester United Credit Card over the next 12 months, sees the introduction of this co-branded card as a platform to strengthen its credit card business in the Asean region. The new card offers multiple Maybankard TreatsPoints, discounts when buying Manchester United merchandise online and at the Megastore in Old Traffod, and 20% off the Stadium Museum Tour at Old Trafford. The bank has also waived the card’s annual fee for life.

Prudential R U Ready

In a bid to promote financial awareness among Malaysian youth, one of the local leading retail financial services group Prudential Assurance Malaysia has partnered with local indie band Busco to launch a music video contest – R U Ready. The contest encourages Malaysian aged 18 and above to upload either pictures or videos that best represents what is going on in their lives on the official Facebook page. Prudential intend to help educate the younger generation and guide them to a bright financial future through this contest.

New Series Of Malaysian Coins

Few days ago, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced the new Third Series of Malaysian coins in denominations of 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent and 50 cent will be in circulation starting 1st JAN 2012 while the old coins will be gradually phased out. The new coins are legal tender and will co-circulate with the existing series for a few years before the old coins are eventually phased out. This series of new coins are smaller and lighter, themed after the nature, flora and traditional handicraft which comes in yellow and silver colour with the edge designs enable the public and also the visually-impaired to identify and distinguish the different denominations.

EPF Announces 5.80% Dividend Rate For 2010

With the approval of the Malaysia Minister of Finance, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) today declares dividend rate of 5.80 percent for the financial year ended 31st DEC 2010. It’s the highest dividend payout amount ever of RM21.61 billion to members, an increase of 11.55 percent over the 2009 dividend payout of RM19.37 billion. The dividend rate, which is 15 basis points higher than the 5.65 percent announced for the year of 2009, underscores an impressive year in which gross investment income reached a historical high of RM24.06 billion, reflecting a 39.76  percent increase over the RM17.22 billion gross investment income recorded in 2009.

EPF Declares 5.65% Dividend Rate For 2009

Attention to all fellow Malaysian employees, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has just declared a dividend rate of 5.65 per cent for the financial year ended 31st DEC 2009, which is 1.15 per cent higher than the 4.5 per cent paid out for year 2008.
