Back in AUG 2011, a new self-making short films competition titled MyPhone Shorties had been announced by local leading mobile service provider, Digi Telecommunications with an initiative to promote and celebrate the 1Malaysia spirit in conjunction with Malaysia Day. This contest require the participants to create a short Public Service Announcements (PSA) using the movie-making features on their smartphones by working around the theme of “Terima Kasih, Malaysia”.
In a bid to promote financial awareness among Malaysian youth, one of the local leading retail financial services group Prudential Assurance Malaysia has partnered with local indie band Busco to launch a music video contest – R U Ready. The contest encourages Malaysian aged 18 and above to upload either pictures or videos that best represents what is going on in their lives on the official Facebook page. Prudential intend to help educate the younger generation and guide them to a bright financial future through this contest.
The biggest book expositions in Southeast Asia, BookFest @ Malaysia will be back for the 6th consecutive year this month, scheduled to be held from 27th AUG 2011 until 4th SEPT 2011 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). With a theme of “One Book One World”, this year’s event will be stretching approximately 125,000 square feet utilising Halls 1 to 5 of KLCC. The expo is organised as a platform to showcase millions of books by local and international authors as well as exhibit a wide range of latest stationery products, with the objective to cultivate a healthy reading habit and culture.
Adidas King of the Road (KOTR) is a running championship held in five countries across Southeast Asia which organised in city areas. Adidas KOTR 2011 will be held in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, where each country served as a qualifying leg towards the Grand Finals of adidas KOTR Southeast Asia Championship 2011 at the Philippines on 23rd OCT 2011. Malaysian leg is scheduled to take place on 2nd OCT 2011 at Sunway Pyramid starting from 7AM.

Uniqlo, Japan’s biggest retailer, has jumped on the bandwagon to help raise funds for individuals affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake which happened back in 11th MAR 2011. The fund-raising campaign will see Uniqlo marketing a line of Save Japan! UT t-shirts which feature words of encouragement from global celebrities. The Save Japan! UT project was made possible with the help from the Conde Nast Group, the publisher of Vogue Japan and GQ Japan.
