The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held Sunday night, 29th AUG at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. A mix of new comedies and veteran dramas dominated this year’s event, while HBO monopolized the statuettes for movies and miniseries. ABC’s Modern Family led all series programs with three Emmy wins, including outstanding comedy. Fox’s Glee, which led all series with 19 nominations, won Emmys for supporting actress Jane Lynch and director Ryan Murphy. Besides, The Pacific, the World War II miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, was awarded Outstanding Miniseries or Movie.

The 17th annual ceremony of Relentless Energy Drink Kerrang! Awards 2010 had been held on last Thursday in London and all the winners were revealed. Bullet For My Valentine sweep two gongs to become the only band to receive multiple nods. The four-piece act received one for Best Live Band and another for Best British Band. Overall the Brits led the charge at this year’s Kerrang! Awards, which saw Bullet For My Valentine, Biffy Clyro and You Me At Six all voted winners, beating off competition from their American rivals.

That is it! The world’s most prestigious football competition – 2010 FIFA World Cup has come to its end. Spain become the new and eighth champion in the history of FIFA World Cup, and Holland still remain as the “king without trophy”. The 19th annual MTV Movie Awards has been taken place at Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Carlifornia on 6th JUN, just the past Sunday. The second installment of the vampire drama film franchise – The Twilight Saga: New Moon, comes out as the biggest winner of the night by winning total four kudos, including the top honor of Best Movie, Best Female Performance, Best Male Performance and Best Kiss awards.

A challenging Thai art film – Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, directed by an acclaimed international auteur, Apichatpong Weerasethakul won the top prize – Palme d’Or this year.

World Music Awards 2010 had been held on last week, 18th MAY at Sporting Club in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Lady Gaga leads the winners list this year by scooping five gongs, including the Best Selling Artist from America, Best Single, Best Album, Best Pop/Rock Artist and Best New Artist awards. Unfortunately, the “Poker Face” failed to turn up to the lavish bash.

Bodyguards and Assassins dominated the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) last night, 18th APR by sweeping a total of eight awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and five awards in movie technical categories. The movie is an 1906 action thriller about a scrappy team of volunteers who shepherd revolutionary Sun YatSen to a key meeting with his allies at Hong Kong, fending off scores of assassins dispatched by the China empress.

Asia Voice Independent Music Awards (AVIMA) returns for its second year this month. AVIMA is the world’s biggest independent music awards by kick into the next gear with a slew of exciting music talents from 20 countries around Asia. The AVIMA scoring is unique and drives home the philosophy of “band talent-fans power”. Thus, the winners of each categories are decided via an online polls that makes up 30% of the overall scores and the remaining 70% will be determined by global music judges. The voting period for AVIMA 2010 has begun from 8th APR until 23rd APR 2010 and there are total 17 categories to be vote for in this year’s gala.

The 4th Asian Film Awards (AFA) had been took place at the Hong Kong Convention Centre in Hong Kong on yesterday night, 22nd MAR. Many big-screen heavy hitters showing up last night to accept their awards. Notables included Indian film megastar Amitabh Bachchan who made a gracious acceptance speech for his Lifetime Achievement Award and Chinese director Zhang YiMou, who took home a Special Achievement Awards.

Kathryn Bigelow became the biggest winner in 2010 82nd Academy Awards by winning six golden statues for her low-budget Iraq war drama – The Hurt Locker, including both Best Picture and Best Directing awards, which making Bigelow the first women ever in the history of Academy Awards to win the awards. This most anticipating event of the year was held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles just a few hours ago.
