BMW Shorties is a short film competition served as a platform for independent filmmakers to showcase their talent which has taken place annually since 2007. 220 short films had entered the contest since its first commencement with some of the previous winners’ short films have been screened at many prestigious film festivals including Cannes, New York, Dubai, Oberhausen and Rotterdam.

Exotic Brazil is going to feel its highest heat this month! Miss Universe is about to return on this upcoming 12th SEPT 2011 at Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil. All the contestants have arrived at the venue earlier since last month to kick start a series of pre-pageant events. Miss Universe 2011 pageant will be celebrating its 60th anniversary and a total of 89 beautiful contestants from around the world will gather to compete on this colourful land in South America. The winner of this year’s pageant will succeed last year’s Miss Universe, Mexico’s Ximena Navarrete.

Few days ago, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced the new Third Series of Malaysian coins in denominations of 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent and 50 cent will be in circulation starting 1st JAN 2012 while the old coins will be gradually phased out. The new coins are legal tender and will co-circulate with the existing series for a few years before the old coins are eventually phased out. This series of new coins are smaller and lighter, themed after the nature, flora and traditional handicraft which comes in yellow and silver colour with the edge designs enable the public and also the visually-impaired to identify and distinguish the different denominations.

World Food Day is celebrated on 16th OCT every year around the world, where the Day also marks the date of the founding of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. This globally celebrated Day was proclaimed by FAO’s Member Countries at the organization’s 20th General Conference in NOV 1979. The aim of the Day is to heighten public awareness of the world food problem and strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

Forbes has recently compiled a ranking list for America’s super rich. This year, for only the fifth time since 1982, the collective net worth of The Forbes 400 Richest Americans has declined – falling $300 billion in the past 12 months from US$1.57 trillion to US$1.27 trillion. Faltering capital markets and real estate prices, along with divorce and fraud, pushed the fortunes of 314 members down and drove 32 drop off the rankings.
