The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held Sunday night, 29th AUG at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. A mix of new comedies and veteran dramas dominated this year’s event, while HBO monopolized the statuettes for movies and miniseries. ABC’s Modern Family led all series programs with three Emmy wins, including outstanding comedy. Fox’s Glee, which led all series with 19 nominations, won Emmys for supporting actress Jane Lynch and director Ryan Murphy. Besides, The Pacific, the World War II miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, was awarded Outstanding Miniseries or Movie.

The local business magazine, Malaysian Business has recently compiled a list of “Highest Paid Directors” survey for the year of 2009. Among the list, Genting Berhad topped the list with a payout of RM92.11 million. Besides, Genting Bhd also had the highest remuneration band of RM87.6 million to RM87.65 million for a single director. However, the company did not name the director. The top executive listed is its executive chairman and chief executive officer, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.

The 17th annual ceremony of Relentless Energy Drink Kerrang! Awards 2010 had been held on last Thursday in London and all the winners were revealed. Bullet For My Valentine sweep two gongs to become the only band to receive multiple nods. The four-piece act received one for Best Live Band and another for Best British Band. Overall the Brits led the charge at this year’s Kerrang! Awards, which saw Bullet For My Valentine, Biffy Clyro and You Me At Six all voted winners, beating off competition from their American rivals.
