Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will be returning for its 14th year on 8th-10th JUL 2011 at Sarawak Cultural Village, Santubong, Kuching which will be held from 10AM till 12AM daily. RWMF is one of the worlds most unique festival that brings together on the same stage renowned world musicians from around the world and indigenous musicians from the interiors of Borneo. This incredible show that has been running for over 10 years has attracted many music lovers from the world over to the Land of the Hornbills. The festival emphasizes the use of traditional acoustic world instruments, although electric accompaniment instruments are common.

Urbanscapes 2011 will be held on 16th JUL 2011 at Padang Astaka, Petaling Jaya start from 12PM-12AM. Urbanscapes is an event organised by KLue and is the first and only all-day “user-generated” creative arts festival within Klang Valley which aims to bring together communities and participants from the fields of music, arts, fashion, photography, lifestyle, film under a single banner to showcase the best of the local scene. Since its debut, Urbanscapes has become a platform for bands and singer-songwriters to showcase their music.

This contest is open to all Malaysians as well as expatriates living in Malaysia above the age of 18 and it ends on 30th SEPT 2011.
After the 11th MAR 2011 earthquake tragedi happened in North East region, Japanese mangaka whom well-known for his comic “Slam Dunk” and “Vagabond” – Inoue Takehiko, had been posting up over 30 illustrations for the purpose to cheer up the survivals from the tragedi through his Twitter account. He said “Pray for everyone’s safety” via Twitter and his illustrations are a series of black and white pictures titled “Smile”. You may check out all his artworks through HERE.
Hong Kong artist/illustrator/designer, Michael Lau has recently present his latest art work, 12″ CrazyMichael Gardener during his Crazy X’MAS exhibition at Times Square in Hong Kong on 11th DEC 2010. Produced by Hot Toys, CrazyMichael with his straight jacket (and hood) outfit and crazy black dog (with canine straight jacket) will be available for HK$1999. The 4th International Art Expo Malaysia 2010 will be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur from this Thursday, 28th OCT till 1st NOV. Art Expo Malaysia marks the country’s biggest international art event and this year it will feature artists and exhibitors from reputable art galleries and institutions from 15 countries but some of the artists featured are from 8 other countries, including those from the innovative Embassy’s Row featuring works of artists from Argentina, Cuba and Ecuador. This summer, Dulux invited mural painter MWM Graphics to create a series of live painting performances on walls in Marseille, Lyon and Paris, under people’s eyes. Directors Le Groupuscule captured the evolution of each mural, gathering over 700,000 pictures, that were edited to an unreleased track by Monsieur Monsieur - Walls Are Dancing, to create this video. This collaboration of 3 artistic disciplines to make walls dance is part of the Let’s Colour Project.
Swiss watchmakers Rado launched the Rado Young Design Prize Malaysia 2010 contest recently with prizes worth up to RM50,000 to be won. Themed “Unlimited Spirit”, this art and design competition accepts entries in almost all design categories – animation, architecture, digital, fashion, graphic design, illustration, installations, interior, jewellery, painting, photography, print, products, sculpture or video. This contest is open to all young designers in Malaysia aged from 18 to 35 years old and contest deadline is 6th OCT 2010.
