Legendary Amazons
There will be a few great Oriental movies set to conclude the year of 2011 and one of those is Legendary Amazons. Formerly titled as “Lady Generals of the Yang Family”, this Chinese folklore adapted epic movie is based on a famous Chinese opera set in the Song Dynasty about how the women from the Yang family of Song Dynasty stepped onto the battlefield to avenge the deaths of their warriors husbands, who died while fighting the invading Xia army after being sold out by a traitorous Song official. Executively produced by famous Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan and directed by Frankie Chan, who has also worked on a few Jackie Chan movies, this big budgeted and star-studded cast war period martial arts movie starring Cecilia Cheung, Cheng Pei Pei, Richie Ren, Liu Xiaoqing, Yu Na, Kathy Chow, Yukari Oshima, Jin Qiaoqiao, Ge Chunyan, Zhou Xiaofei, Li Jing and Wu Ma. The film is scheduled to be released on this upcoming 17th NOV 2011.
Synopsis: During the Northern Song Dynasty, the emperor neglects the political affairs, hence rolling border war. The war created times of hardship from the Xia country when they invaded into Song’s territory forcefully, allegedly attempted to intrude to the country. When the men of the renowned Yang Clan were slaughtered and massacred in a battle after being betrayed by a corrupted Song official, Mu Guiying, the Yang family daughter-in-law and wife of Yang Zongbao, tolerate the pain of bereavement by leading a congregation of Yang’s widow, from elderly grandmother to little sisters, to put on armor and lead them to seek vengeance and defeat the much larger Xia army.
