Cannes Film Festival 2010
The 63rd Cannes Film Festival had been concluded on last Saturday, 23rd MAY at Cote d’Azur in South of France. A challenging Thai art film – Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, directed by an acclaimed international auteur, Apichatpong Weerasethakul won the top prize – Palme d’Or this year.

Festival de Cannes is a film festival features the best low-budget indie films from around the world. Started on 12th MAY, this year’s event had shown over 40 features and 90 short films. The screenings were held at the screening room of the CIFF Villa, Palais des Festivals and other top screening venues. Following is the winners list for prime categories:
- Palme d’Or: Apichatpong Weerasethakul – Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (Thailand)
- Grand Prix: Xavier Beauvois – Of Gods and Men (France)
- Best Director: Mathieu Amalric – On Tour (France)
- Best Screenplay: Lee Chang-Dong – Poetry (South Korea)
- Best Actress: Juliette Binoche – Certified Copy (Iran)
- Best Actor: Javier Bardem – Biutiful (Spain) & Elio Germano – Our Life (Italy)
- Best First Feature: Michael Rowe – Ano Bisiesto (Mexico)
- Jury Prize: Mahamat-Saleh Haroun – A Screaming Man (Chad)
The awards presentation night brought to an end of 12 hectic screening days and parties on the French Riviera, where economic uncertainty, a lack of star power and too few movies generating genuine buzz sapped the festival of excitement.
