2010 Forbes World’s Billionaires
Forbes had published the annual list of World’s Billionaires for the year of 2010 on 10th MAR. Mexican tycoon, Carlos Slim Helu has beaten out Americans Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to become the wealthiest person on earth and become the first non-American to nab the top spot in the 16 years of history for the Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires.

The 70 year-old Slim’s fortune has increased US$18.5 billion to US$53.5 billion in twelve months. 54 year-old Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, who had held the title of world’s richest 14 of the past 15 years, fall to second spot with a fortune worth US$53 billion, which up US$13 billion. Meanwhile 79 year-old Warren Buffett’s fortune jumped US$10 billion to US$47 billion and ranks third.
The World’s Billionaires this year has total 1,011 10-figure titans, increase from 793 a year ago but still shy of the record 1,125 in 2008. The total net worth up from US$2.4 trillion to US$3.6 trillion. In total 55 countries, USA still dominate the list with 403 tycoons, increase from 359 last year. Followed by Europe’s 248 and Asia’s 234. By contrast, Asia made big gains. The region added 104 moguls and now has just 14 fewer than Europe, thanks to several large public offerings and swelling stock markets.
