According the 2009 Zeitgeist for Malaysia by the popular search engine Google, social networking, health and women in the news were the fastest rising topics searched by Malaysians in this year.

The fairer sex dominated the fastest rising newsmakers list as politician Elizabeth Wong, Kelantan royalty Manohara Odelia Pinot and TV3 newscaster Zakiah Anas took the top three positions, while H1N1 dominated the headlines, proving health was top most on Malaysian minds in 2009.
