Bursa Malaysia (KLSE) introduces the Direct Market Access (DMA) trading solution for the equities market on Monday, 8th NOV 2009. By this, KLSE expects to attract a new segment of trading participation given its greater accessibility. This electronic trading solution which enables investors to route orders directly to the stock market for immediate execution, is aimed at enhancing trading efficiency and accessibility for market participants.

With the DMA, local market participants and traders are given faster access, real time execution of trade and enables them to have better control over order executions. Bursa Malaysia’s DMA derivatives supports algorithmic, block trading and market making. It offers Sponsored Access with a centralised gateway that is hosted by Bursa Malaysia, the first exchange to offer such a service. The Sponsored Access enables futures brokers to connect their institutional clients directly to the Bursa Malaysia’s trading infrastructure. So far there are 11 participants have already completed this process and benefit from the higher efficiency and access in trading.

Earlier this month, DMA for derivatives has been named the “Best Innovation by an Exchange” by the Futures & Options World (FOW) Awards 2009 under the category of Customer Service, South and Southeast Asia and Australasia. The award recognises excellence in product and services innovation which has proven itself beneficial to the derivatives market.
