2009/10 UEFA Champions League (MD8)

Group E: Liverpool collected only 3 points in the first three matches, while Lyon require just 1 more point for enter into next round, even they lost the remaining 2 group matches. Lyon recorded 5 consecutive wins so far this season, began from the preliminary rounds, with total 15 goals scored. Anyhow, they had a not so brilliant record of facing English teams at home, with getting just 4 draws 1 lost in last 5 encounters. Liverpool’s form hit a new low with just 1 win only in last 7 games, including the 1-2 lost to Lyon at home in previous UCL matchday. The only enlightment is The Reds won all in last 4 away encounters with French teams at France. Although Liverpool are having a serious injured problems in their first team list, including skipper Steven Gerrard, personally I think they will going all out tonight to grab the full points. There are no more rooms for the Reds to lost points anymore. Once they lose tonight, they are going to say bye bye to this season’s UCL.

Group F: Dynamo Kiev lost only 1 time in last 10 European home games and recorded 2 consecutive wins in last 2 UCL home games, but they could only won once in last 8 encounters with Italian teams at home. On the other hand, Inter Milan had not win any in last 8 UCL matches. Same as Liverpool, Inter Milan are desperate to win tonight’s game after collected just 3 points and staying bottom in the group. However, the bloody freezing weather at Ukraine may cause some obstacles for Inter Milan. Another draw to Inter Milan is my prediction for this match.

Group G: Sevilla had 9 wins in last 11 UCL games. Somemore they had never conceded any goals in last 5 home encounters with German teams, and recorded a brilliant 11 consecutive European home wins. Meanwhile Stuttgart playing awful this season, in both Bundesliga and UCL. Plus they lost all in last 5 encounters with Spanish teams, including 2 times to Sevilla. Base on all of these, definitely Sevilla get my vote.

Group H: Arsenal had 9 consecutive wins at home so far this season, with scoring 28 goals. The Gunners lost only 1 time in last 30 UCL home matches, and the last time they lost to a non-English team were in season 2003/04 group stage when they lost 0-3 to Inter Milan. In addition, they lost only 1 time in last 11 encounters with Dutch teams. AZ Alkmaar, getting only 2 points so far in the group, are winless in recent 5 European games, and losing 4 times in last 6 UCL away games. Adding salt to the wound is, they lost all 4 recent away encounters with English teams by conceded a total of 12 goals. I predict that Arsenal will continue their record of wining at home tonight.

    Fiorentina 5-2 Debrecen
    Lyon 1-1 Liverpool
    Sevilla 1-1 Stuttgart
