Malaysia Study Loans Or Scholarships

Knowledge is important to us, but it may become a burden to some of us just because of the necessarily big bucks. Here are a few options of scholarships or study loans opened for you to apply which might help to solve this problems.

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)

Applicants’ Criterias/Conditions:

  1. Malaysian citizenship not more than 45 years old.
  2. Need to pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with minimum 3 subjects are credit.
  3. Must be a full-time student in his/her first degree program and diploma program as well as in one of the 11 local public institutes of higher learning – IPTA or local private institutes of higher learning – IPTS.
  4. Remaining year of his/her study program required minimum one year left.
  5. Has not receive any other sponsors.
  6. Pass the “Means Test” – evaluation of family’s financial ability.
  7. Government servant undertaking half paid/unpaid leave.

Amount of Study Loan Available:

  1. Local public institute of higher learning – IPTA first degree students get RM6,500 p.a.
  2. Local private institute of higher learning – IPTS first degree students get RM16,000 p.a.
  3. IMU students get RM20,000 p.a.
  4. Science stream students will have additional RM500 p.a. (incentive loans not including administration cost).
  5. Local public institute of higher learning – IPTA diploma students get RM5,000 p.a. (applicable for both arts & science streams).

Scholarships are being awarded to excellent local students in fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering and Science and Technology. Scholarships are also awarded to excellent students in the Ministry of Education’s polytechnics. Loans are being given only to students in local polytechnics. At the moment, the Training Division also finance overseas students who face financial problems.  However, the loan being given is only to support their tuition fees.

ASEAN Scholarships
The ASEAN Scholarships are offered annually to outstanding students from all ASEAN countries. They provide an opportunity for studies in top secondary school and junior college in Singapore leading to the General Certificate of Education (Advanced) Level (or equivalent) Examination. This is the most popular scholarships for Malaysian in Singapore. There is no bond attached to the ASEAN Scholarships, however scholars will be required to execute a scholarship deed with the Ministry of Education to complete the General Certificate of education (Advanced) Level (or equivalent) Examinations.
